This bustling drawing captures Piazza Navon in full activity. At the center stands the towering Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, with its dramatic obelisk rising high above the crowd. The square is densely populated: figures gather around the fountains, stroll through the piazza, or line the edges, possibly watching a spectacle or procession. To the left are the elegant noble palaces. The scene brims with movement—carriages, horsemen, spectators—and gives the sense of a public festivity or fair, with the elongated oval shape of the piazza echoing its ancient origins as the Stadium of Domitian.
